The book-CD
by Lydia Lunch, "Amnesia", is launching over Madrid
and Barcelona. In Madrid, on January 27th in the Museo Nacional
Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, and in Barcelona on January 30th and
31st. at L'Antic Teatre.
"Amnesia" offers Lydia Lunch's new texts and photographs.
In the show, Lunch performs a new version of "Ghosts of Spain",
which combines voice, music and video. Lydia Lunch is one of the
most prominent names in spoken word. This figure of New York underground
culture continues to explore new ways to exorcise his ghosts and
this book is proof of that. The book includes unpublished texts
(bilingual edition English and Spanish) and photographs and a
CD which includes collaborations with Danish musician and sound
artist Jacob Kirkegaard and "Ghosts of Spain" the video.
Much of the book stuff is about her visits to Belchite (Aragon),
a town destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. The CD sound bases
are made by Jacob Kirkegaard from a recording of the spectra that
inhabit the ruins of the Aragonese village. Photographs testify
Belchite inhospitable areas or deserts and other places where
the ghosts are still haunting us.
The book-CD Amnesia is a document about the human horrors always
denounced by Lydia Lunch. It's a brilliant sample of the this
artist creation. Text, sound, picture, video on the same cry against
history and oblivion.
This show has been presented, among other Spanish cities, in Castellón
(Espai d'Art Contemporani) and Palma de Mallorca (Es Baluard,
Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art).

El
libro-cd de Lydia Lunch, "Amnesia", se presenta en Madrid
y Barcelona. En Madrid, el día 27 de enero de 2010 en el
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, y en Barcelona
los días 30 y 31 de enero en L’Antic Teatre.
"Amnesia" presenta textos inéditos y fotografías
de Lydia Lunch. En las actuaciones, Lydia Lunch interpreta una
nueva versión del espectáculo "Ghosts of Spain",
en el que conjuga voz, música y vídeo. Lydia Lunch,
uno de los nombres más destacados del spoken word y de
la cultura underground de Nueva York, continúa explorando
nuevos medios para exorcizar a sus fantasmas y este libro es una
muestra de ello. Incluye textos inéditos (edición
bilingüe inglés y castellano), fotografías
de Lydia Lunch y un CD que recoge las colaboraciones con el músico
y artista sonoro danés Jacob Kirkegaard y el video "Ghosts
of Spain".
Buena parte del material del libro está relacionado con
sus visitas al pueblo de Belchite (Aragón), arrasado durante
la Guerra Civil española. Los textos retoman temas recurrentes
en la obra de Lydia Lunch –la guerra y la desesperación
del hombre–, pero esta vez inspirados por la experiencia
de dicha guerra fraticida. Las bases sonoras del CD están
realizadas por Jacob Kirkegaard a partir de grabaciones de los
espectros que habitan las ruinas del pueblo aragonés. Las
fotografías, por su lado, atestiguan espacios inhóspitos
o desiertos de Belchite y otros lugares donde parece que los espectros
siguen acechándonos.
El libro-CD "Amnesia" es un testimonio riguroso de los
horrores humanos que Lydia Lunch siempre ha denunciado y es, ante
todo, una muestra excepcional de los distintos espacios y vértices
que actualmente transita su profusa creación. Texto, sonido,
fotografía, vídeo bajo un mismo grito contra la
historia y el olvido.
Este espectáculo se ha presentado, entre otras ciudades
españolas, en Castellón (Espai d’Art Contemporani)
y Palma de Mallorca (Es Baluard, Museo de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo).
