1972, USA.
Lives and works in New York.
Painter and graphic designer. By combining and remixing graphic
vocabularies from a range of sources, his work makes strong
social commentary on iconography, language, and historical and
contemporary symbolism. McGinness’ graphic signs and personal
iconography are replicated, recontextualized, and materialized
infinitely across a range of media—from paintings, prints,
and installations, to skateboards, T-shirts, and videos. In
1999, he received critical acclaim for his first book, 'Flatnessisgod'.
McGinness' work has been exhibited throughout the United States,
Europe, and Asia, and was recently added to the permanent collection
of MOMA. |
